This is going to be a little different from my typical blog posts.
I love planning weddings and social events so much that it tends to be all consuming in my daily life. It is easy for me to work 10 -15 hours a day, planning for upcoming events, creating a new design or just working on something extra special for my couples. While this is great and productive, I have to learn to create a balance. I tend to give so much to my clients, that I neglect myself, family and friends.
I decided to take a few days off for the 4th of July holiday(which is not entirely true, because I am currently writing this post and I should be at a BBQ right now..lol!). In sitting and reflecting I realized that it is of the utmost importance that I create a better work/life balance. I’ve thought about doing this before but of course fell back into old habits very quickly because I had no one to hold me accountable. That all changes today! I am putting this out, so I can be held accountable.
So often we get caught up in our lives and we don’t take time to be present in our situation. That means celebrating our wins, taking quiet time for ourselves or spending time with friends and family. At the end of the day, no matter how much money or fame we acquire, it doesn’t really mean much if you have no one to share it with.
My challenge to you is to do two things this week:
- Create a schedule and stick to it no matter what! Be productive during your work hours and take time for yourself and also your friends and family.
- Celebrate a win this week! If it is waking up on time, finishing that book, going to the gym consistently, whatever it is….take the time to celebrate it and make new goals for next week.
My goals for this week are:
- Get back to my gym schedule. My goal this week is 3 days. I will let you know how it goes
- Stick to my office hours and take time away from my office/computer/phone to spend time with my friends and family.
Share your goals with me, let’s be accountable together so we can improve and make our relationships stronger. I am signing off to go have some great food and watch fireworks with my family!
-Have a Chic and 4th of July!
